GLAMIS CASTLE

WHAT TO LOOK FOR AT THE SITE AND WHO ITS SUITED FOR:
This has to be near the top of my list for this type of castle. The grounds are simply lovely with formal gardens, neat little walks, a fab adventure playground with a zip line, and a great paddock full of highland cattle right next to the playground. The family still lives in the castle so you cannot visit all of it, but there are tours to see what is available. This one is just great for the kids and we highly recommend it for all ages.

GIFT SHOP / TEA ROOM / RESTAURANT / TOILET AVAILABILTY:
The gift shop here is really neat because they've added a flea market sort of upstairs, which is fun. There is a great (though expensive) tea room/restaurant. There are toilets as well.

This is a privately owned site and therefore costs to get in for everyone are a little steeper.
March 13th through October: 31st Adults are £8.75, Child £6.00, Family £25.00
Gardens and grounds only Adults £4.50, Child £3.50, Family £13.00
November 1st through December 30th: TBC

OPENING TIMES:
March 13th through December 31st open 7 days a week except for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day
March through October times from 10am to 6pm with the last tour at 4:30pm
November through December times from 10:30am to 4:30pm with a last tour at 3pm

Glamis Castle is down south about 1 1/2 hours on the A90 near Forfar. For complete directions use our google map.

PLACES TO VISIT NEARBY:
Glamis, though not necessarily near anything in particular, is a great stopping point between Aberdeen and St. Andrews. It's inland near Forfar and, if I remember correctly, you'll see signs for it from the A90.
